The BIOMICS project is a Twinning initiative funded by the European Union’s Horizon programme. It is a collaborative effort involving the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) in Portugal and leading European institutions, including the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Spain, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory – European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in the UK, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) in Switzerland. BIOMICS is dedicated to supporting researchers, clinicians, and students by equipping them with advanced skills in data science through training programmes, staff exchanges, courses, and conferences. The project’s main purpose is to establish a centre of excellence in biomedical data science, enabling GIMM to improve its research capabilities, strengthen international partnerships, and link scientific discoveries directly to clinical applications and healthcare innovation.​
